Registration, initial assessment and individual social work is now undertaken by the Sensory Impairment Team, based at Quayside House, Gloucester. All queries should now go through the Customer Service Officers on 01452-426 868.

There are two Rehabilitation/Mobility Officers for VIPs in the County and they can be contacted through the Customer Service Officers on 01452-426 868.

Employment Officer

The Social Services Department has an Employment Officer who helps in the placement of disabled people in local employment opportunities under sheltered working conditions. Referrals to the Employment Officer, currently John Dignum, are made through the Disability Employment Advisor at local job centres. Mr. Dignum can be contacted at Gloucestershire Industrial Services on 01242-574 499.

TALKING NEWSPAPERS

Six Talking Newspapers in the County provide local news and information on 90minute audio tapes for blind and partially sighted people free of charge.
